Want to help out in an Emergency?
During an emergency, the Emergency Services are likely to be stretched and unable to answer all of the demands placed on them. Local volunteers can assist the Emergency Services and help the local community to respond to, and recover from, the event.
Scheduled: 4 May 2024 - 11:00 to 12:30
recent events regarding a mains gas leak along the London Road in April, are a good example of how local people can assist in an emergency by providing:
Additional staff (helping evacuate residents)
Local knowledge (re-direction of traffic)
Specialist skill sets
The team is preparing its plans and has started recruiting. A meeting will be held on 4 May at 1100 in the classroom at the Community Farm on Cow Lane. The meeting will expand on the role of the volunteers, explain what has been achieved so far and examine local risks. It is planned that the meeting will finish by 1230 hrs
All registered volunteers are invited to attend and we would welcome attendance by anybody who is interested in joining the team.
