Based at the Old Sarum & Longhedge Community Centre on Pheasant Drive in Old Sarum, the Community Pantry is run by volunteers and offers a chance to help with food waste and help for those in need of support with the cost of living.

Published: 7 November 2023

An exciting development at the Old Sarum and Longhedge Community Pantry means that from January 31st  they will open on a Friday afternoon alongside their existing hours. They will be providing simple hot meals whilst they are open.

Nina Cope, one of the Pantry Project Managers, explained that “due to the recent growth in our membership, from two hundred at the end of 2023 to over six hundred in December 2024, we are on the hunt for more wonderful volunteers. We would welcome conversations about any offers of help, but these are the hours we hope volunteers will come forward to support us with.”

OPENING HOURS:
Tuesday 8 pm – 9 pm
Wednesday 9 am – 12.30 pm
Friday 3.30 – 6 pm (from January 31st 2025 onwards)
The Community Pantry is not just about reducing food waste and helping families and local people who are struggling through the current cost of living crisis, it is also providing a space where people who feel isolated or want to meet more of their community can come for a coffee and a chat, get guidance on where and who to turn to for advice on a range of problems including housing, debt and finance matters.
In 2024 the Pantry was supported by   Spire Telecom, Acorn Community Bank, Salisbury Football Club and a host of local businesses and supermarkets such as Tesco, Marks & Spencers, and Waitrose. It is a highly valued community asset and plays a central role within the local community.
