Old Sarum Flying Club

A planning application regarding the development of land at Old Sarum Airfield has been lodged with Wiltshire Planning Department. PL/2023/07368

With its historic national importance, commercial use as a grass-strip airfield, a  listed WW1 hangar, local café and businesses, and the presence of the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection it is important people have their say on this highly valued area of our local community. There are over a hundred documents to review within the application and the Parish Council intends to scrutinize these carefully in the time allotted. The decision will be made in accordance with Wiltshire Council planning policy.

The next two Full Council Meetings on October 16th* and November 20th at the Old Sarum and Longhedge Community Centre at 7pm will give over some time for people to briefly air their views see here next meeting

PL/2023/07368 Outline application with all matters reserved, except from the means of access to the site for the demolition, modification and renovation of existing buildings, structures and site development. Provision of approximately 15.03ha of residential land accommodating approximately 315 residential dwellings. Provision for mixture of employment, commercial/leisure, and aviation uses on 3.51ha of land at Area B, including a “flying hub” comprising a control tower, heritage centre, visitor centre, café/restaurant, parachute centre, aviation archives and aircraft hangars. Provision of associated access, including construction of new points of vehicular access to surrounding highways network, car parking and connections to surrounding footpath and cycle networks. Green infrastructure provision, including open space, play space, recreational footpaths, cycle paths and landscape enhancement areas; the provision of above and below ground utilities, including a sustainable urban drainage system and waste water treatment works. Associated vegetation removal, ground modification and engineering works.
