Lesley Waller

Ward
Bishopdown Farm (including Hampton Park and Riverdown Park)
Address
30 The Oakbournes Bishopdown SP1 3FZ
I became involved with Laverstock and Ford parish council when I was asked to represent the views of residents opposed to the Salisbury City Council ‘take-over bid’ back in 2016. After a career in local councils and the voluntary sector I am opposed to political party involvement at Parish Council level and I made this point to Wiltshire Council who in turn refused to support the take over.
I represent the Bishopdown Farm ward which extends to cover Riverdown and Hampton Park.
Over the years I have been involved in much the parish council’s policy development, the review of the parish council, gaining double yellow lines in St Clements Way to protect the free flow of our bus service, four bus shelters and I was privileged to be asked to plant the first English Oak tree at the WW1 Memorial wood, Castle Hill Country Park.
Currently, I serve on the joint advisory committee with the Land Trust and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust who manage the Castle Hill Country Park and I Chair the Community Engagement Committee and will do for one more year; I then hope to pass this responsibility to one of our recently elected councillors so that they can bring their enthusiasm and new ideas to this role. As a councillor, I support community involvement, representation, equality of access to open spaces, services, employment and value for money for residents.
Besides my parish council role, I am the Speaker Secretary for Sarum u3a, a keen birdwatcher, a regular swimmer and bridge player, often losing!
