Live at BDAC! Youngest Bomber Pilot of WW2 a talk by author Graham Waterton

This is the story of Brian Slade told by his nephew. Brian left his grammar school just before his 16 birthday and, having falsified his age, was awarded his wings within a few days of his 17th birthday. This was the start of this teenager’s remarkable wartime career. His first tour was flying the Vickers Wellington on which he experimented early target marking techniques. Having completed 34 operations he volunteered for a second tour and this was on Lancaster pathfinders, in this role he became he became a very proficient operator.
