Community Emergency Volunteers

Community Emergency Volunteers have been formed, as a parish group tasked to assist the community in becoming more resilient, and can complement the work of local emergency responders. This will involve both preparation for emergencies before they occur and response once an emergency has hit.

The Laverstock and Ford Parish Community Emergency Volunteer group has now formed and we are in the early stages of developing the capability.

  • An initial meeting was held in February at which a number of volunteers were enrolled.
  • Training of volunteers has commenced.
  • We have developed a roadmap for the development of the capability and started work on our Parish emergency plan.
  • We met with an established group of volunteers in Melksham and gained useful advice based on their experience.
  • We hosted a meeting with the Environment Agency to discuss flooding issues.

We are now keen to enrole more volunteers who are prepared to support the community during an emergency as well as those who are happy to commit time to helping develop the response.

Anybody who is interested in joining the Volunteers, but cannot attend the meetings, are welcome to contact:

The Coordinator, Jon Gunns, at: cev@laverstockford-pc.gov.uk

We also have  Neighbourhood Watch operating in our parish to find out how to be a part of your local neighbourhood watch team you can contact the local co-ordinator Ross Walker here ross.walker@wiltshirenhw.org  or visit https://wiltshirenhw.org
