D-Day80
This year we commemorate 80 years since the D-Day landings, men and women who participated in this event at the end of World War II will be in their nineties or older!
Here in our parish, Old Sarum Airfield played an important role in D-Day, from Feb 26, 1944 to the following December the camps at the airfield saw over seventy-seven thousand service personnel and support staff pass through – you can find out more about this on the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection (BDAC) website, and as part of a planned D-Day exhibition which will be on display in June.
Thank you to all the residents who joined us in commemorating the sacrifices made and bravery displayed in order to bring about peace. We look forward to working with BDAC in 2025.
